What is Kasis Bhasma?

Kasis Bhasma is a mineral-based Ayurvedic medicine used by Ayurveda physicians in the treatment of various diseases. If we talk about the chemical composition of this medicine, it is a form of ferrous sulfate.

There are two types of this medicine, “Pushpa Kasis” and “Balu Kasis”. The Balu Kasis is also known as “Dhatu Kasis”, but in medical uses, Pushpa Kasis is used.  To obtain Kasis Bhasma from Pure Kasis, first, it is cleaned and then it is converted into Bhasma after some Ayurvedic Process.

This medicine is used in various diseases like loss of appetite, indigestion, the heaviness of abdomen, splenomegaly and premature graying of hairs

It also helps in the problems of menstrual disturbances and the absence of menstruation in any month. Apart from this, it is beneficial in skin diseases like scabies, itching, etc.

Kasis is a Hindi name for green vitriol, which is Ferrous sulfate.

Ferrous Sulfate is also used in mainstream medicines for the treatment of anemia, but Kasis Bhasma is a calcined form of Ferrous sulfate, so its bioavailability is higher than raw ferrous sulfate.

Kasis Bhasma Uses in Anemia

As you know that Kasis Bhasma is basically a form of Iron and this is an iron-rich medicine. That is why this medicine increases the level of hemoglobin and cures in fatigue, weakness, pale skin, frequent infections, lightheadedness, and dizziness. All these symptoms occur when an individual is deficient in iron.

Kasis Bhasma Uses in Amenorrhea

Amenorrhea is a women problem, in which women suffer from menstrual problems. If there is an absence of a menstrual period, then it is called amenorrhea. Kasis Bhasma is useful in primary and secondary amenorrhea. This medicine gives its result within 15 days. To boost the effect of this medicine Heeng (asafoetida) may be used.

Kasis Bhasma Uses in Dysmenorrhea

Kasis Bhasma has anti-spasmodic action due to which it is very useful in membranous dysmenorrhea. It reduces pain and cramps during the menstrual period. You may require starting it 7 days before the due date and repeating it for three menstrual cycles. You should stop taking it after completion of the menstrual cycle.

Kasis Bhasma Uses in Oligomenorrhea

Some patients have a problem with abnormally infrequent and light menstruation. Kasis Bhasma is a good remedy for Oligomenorrhea. It should be used in a similar way as explained under the heading of dysmenorrhea.

Kasis Bhasma Uses in Fatty Liver

Kasis Bhasma reduces fats and cholesterol in the body. It also reduces fats from the liver, so it is beneficial for the fatty liver syndrome. It also improves appetite by inducing bile secretion from the liver.
